1 weekend + Harry Potter + Mickey Mouse = awesome

The Saltire Sirens (minus MacD who went to play golf somewhere fancy) hit Orlando for the weekend.  We missed the space launch which is a shame as Jojo would have liked to have hitched a ride on that rocket.  Still, we managed to make her forget that she didn't conquer her dream to be first Scottish woman in space.

Jojo had booked hotel, hire car and led the charge to our hotel.

Arrival - this was the silly face picture
Arrival - the sirens - Jojo, Sandrine (Sandy Pandy), Amina (Nibbles)

Our sweet ride and the Sirens arriving at Universal Islands of Adventure

Jojo on the way into Islands of Adventure

The Harry Potter ride was a 2.5hr wait to get on but soooooo worth it.

Sandrine looking oh so stylish!
The conductor spoke with an english accent - we asked where he was from - he said: Hogsmeade of course!!

Butterbeer mug repurposed for Margaritas

Butterbeer mug repurposed for coffee to help us on the way to DISNEY WORLD

Dub Step Mickey - he was rockin' out on the decks

First proper meal of the whole weekend - Sunday lunch!!

Orlando!!!

We arrived in Orlando safely!!

Jojo did a fab job of hiring a car - a chrysler cruiser and getting us a great hotel.  Our rooms even interconnect!!!

Sandy had a little nap last night - so the rest of us went out to a bar called the tilted kilt. Can take the lasses out of Scotland but...

Only problem was that it was um... hooters style.  Girls in very short skirts and bras serving up food and beer.  Hey ho, the food was nice.

And so endeth my education in American sports

I have officially finished my sports watching.

I experienced 'tailgating' and ice hockey last night thanks to Walter, Lois and Allaina.  The game was quite cool - the North Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers.  Sadly the 'canes' lost.

Ice Hockey was super fun because -

  • Walter, Lois and Allaina rock
  • Beer was involved
  • The game was indoors with comfy seats (which even had beer holders)
  • They slingshot people across the ice at half time
  • It was fast and there was lots to watch
  • They have a sin bin (which reminds me of aussie footy)

No sport would be complete without MacD

To coin Walter and Lois' phrase-

Baseball - check
Basketball - check
American Football - check
Ice Hockey - check
Tailgating - check

American sport experience - check!!

Take 2 - Houston

Texas let me in! I Finally made it to Texas on Thursday night to catch up with the guys. I have a cold so am unable to think of anything funny to write, but this is what happened - in pictures....  taken from my video camera because of course, still no camera charger! Explanation to follow once the cold and flu pills have kicked in.
